Friday

I'd really like to have a Cherry 7up right now, but I just don't think that would be a good breakfast.

Christmas was great. Stuff was given to all; Rachel and Tim arrived on Christmas instead of the 26th. Mum and Dad were so surprised- it was great!

If they ever get up, I'm taking them to lunch downtown. Maybe we'll manage to get there by 3. We'll go see The Two Towers this evening, as well. I'm looking forward to it.

Meanwhile, I'm enjoying break on my own. I'm reading The Fellowship of the Ring, and I got a few DVDs for Christmas. And these cool new house slipper sock thingees that keep my feet warm. That doesn't seem to exciting, I know, but for some reason, my feet are almost always rather cold.

I got my grades in the mail a few days ago- all A's, though I have no idea how I managed an A in Trig. Not complaining, though; I'm pretty happy about it, actually. Anyway, since I passed all my classes (like there was ever any doubt ;) ) I am now "officially" a senior. Even though my school already lied about my grade to the state earlier this year when I was a junior, so that my scores would count, and I've been calling myself a senior since the end of school last spring. Still, though, the "official" thing is nice- a few last straggling teachers will stop hasseling me.

Ah, well. Time for breakfast!
I kind of feel like I've been hit by a train. That's just the kind of thing that happens when you have a crappy immune system, though. I'm hoping a couple nights of good sleep will help. In other news, I survived finals week, and I have pretty much all of my Christmas shopping done. Huzzah.

I got a Christmas card from KU today. This is weird because they haven't really sent me any recruitment stuff before, just stuff concerning the classes I took there this summer. Ah, well, not complaining, just observing.

I finished Cryptonomicon last week. Good book, it is. Watch for Quicksliver in the near future. And watch Minority Report, cause it's sweet. TTT is out, and I hear it's pretty awesome. I'm looking forward to going and seeing it with my sister and my brother in law when they come up. Until then, I plan to catch up on my reading.

Have a lovely break, everyone.
Some people would have you believe no genre of music is particularly superior to another.

This is a lie.

I came to this conclusion while I was in drawing class, stuck listening to rap. I aknowledge rap as a musical genre, just as I aknowledge painting as an art form. But just as there are millions more of paint-by-numbers than, say, DaVinci's, there is a lot of crappy rap. I realize this is true for most genres, but I was subjected to rap today, so it's taking the heat. I'd request all bad rap be taken off the air, but then those rappers would be out of work and, with their qualifications, might end up in, perhaps, the education services. Frankly, I don't know how I feel about that. So, rappers everywhere who can't rhyme intelligently, consider yourself mentally rebuked by one random white girl in the midwest. And make sure your mother doesn't hear you talk like that.

Thank you, that is all.

Sunday

Ah, so November is over.

Praise the Lord!

It was quite a month, I must say. Since my last entry much has happened. I shall attempt to boil it down. Went to Arkansas for my sister's wedding. Booked our block of rooms for our family in the hotel on the campus. The first night, it was just my parents and myself who were staying there, though. About 10:45pm our phone rings- "we need you to evacuate as a precaution. we have smoke coming in from the cafeteria." Okay, so it's just smoke so far, so we get changed really quickly, grab some stuff and get out. Mom grabbed her purse and the dresses, Dad got his mandolin and my cds, and I got a couple of blankets, my pillow and my book all shoved down into my pillowcase. To make a long story short- the building was on fire, we ended up staying in a different hotel that night. Advice to anyone who gets stuck w/o a toothbrush. DO NOT use the ones that have toothpaste "built into" the bristles. Never. NEVER!!! That's all.

So, anyway, the next day I had my tour of the college campus. Through all of it I was still half in my pajamas because I hadn't been able to get back to the hotel room. Much fun. The next day was the rehearsal, which really was fun, and then the rehearsal dinner, which was arguably better even though I don't like barbeque.

Then there was the wedding. We won't go there. Suffice to say, it went well, a good time was had by all you'd expect to have a good time.

I spent the rest of the afternoon with some people from my hometown, which was a lot of fun- saw Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Decent flick.

We came back the next day, and I stayed up til 11 so I could get my SAT scores online. Drum roll please........... 1380! Yeah buddy, I got my 1330 and more. Huzzah! And to counter that joyous feeling, I had an all day choir clinic the next day. It sucked. Yay. Then we had the whole Thanksgiving thing family everywhere more food deal. It was nice. And now they can all leave. Please? Go?

So, anyway, I'm not going to edit this. It's merely a news post, so... who cares. Hope everyone had a nice November.
